Augmented reality (or AR) is when we add our own objects to a real life scene, usually with the iPhone or iPad’s camera.
The smash hit Pokemon game made AR a household term, where you could wander around and discover Pokemon hidden in plain sight, if you used the app to wander around your environment.
We explore a variety of tools and environments for creating our own augmented reality scenes. Some of them will be code-heavy, others more drag and drop. But all of them will let you explore this new creative outlet.
We start with AR Makr, an excellent app for visual storytelling. Then we spend a bit of time with Reality Composer, an app from Apple for building out scenes to place in our own environment.
Let’s see what you can create with AR!
